My first post and may i congratulate the owner on a very good site.......anyway my query ...Been doing a extention on the side of the house and have a load of broken tiles from the old roof ..,was wondering instead of trying to get them off site would they be suitable for a sub base under the new patio that i`ll be laying shortly...your answers much appreciated

They would need to be broken down to pieces not larger than around 40mm and they would need to be mixed with sand or fines to eliminate the voids - this should make them more or less ok for a patio, but I'd be more wary about using them under a driveway. The best use would be to smash them up and have them spread as a thin layer that could be topped off with proper sub-base material.
