Hi. I've just ordered my type 1 mot for the sub base and noticed it crushed granite and not crushed limestone. Is this ok ?
Thanks
John

Type 1 is a "recipe", a specification for how much fine material and how much lumpy material has to be included, and also what rock types are acceptable. Limestone is common in some areas, elsewhere it may be granite, diorite, sandstone, whin......there are quite a few suitable rock types, all of which meet the requirements for strength, flakiness, crush resistance, etc.
There are also endless arguments about which rock type is best. Many favour limestone, but it's not really relevant. What *is* important is getting it properly laid, levelled and compacted. Thorough compaction is much more important than rock type.
