Raj green sandstone questions

Morning gents,

I am just about to have a 50sqm patio paid with Indian sandstone riven, (raj green). I have two questions.

1.) Should I seal this? I have read the sealing page on the site and it's not really left me with an answer... if I should then do I seal it prior to laying or after.

2.) I have been looking at easyjoint to point it. Thoughts on this and colour choices for my stone?

Good! As explained on that page, I have no inclination to recommend *any* particular sealant for natural stone.

As for jointing, there are dozens, nay: hundreds of threads on this subject in the section of The Brew Cabin. Just have a browse through some of them and you'll find the ones that have good reviews and, more importantly, the ones to avoid.

We use the Easyjoint Mushroom on a lot of our Raj Green Installations and it looks nice. With regards to sealing personally I don't think the Raj Green traditional sandstone needs sealing, as it weathers quite well and although a sandstone its not one of the higher maintenance stones. If I were to seal it, for a surface sealer I would use Resiblock Invisible but you would want to wait probably 6 months after you have laid it to apply it, for an impregnating sealer I have found the Drytreat Stainproof works really well but it is expensive. I agree with David, if you do decide to seal it, leave it as long as possible between installation and application (12 weeks at the minimum). We produce a sealant designed specifically for Indian Sandstone which is available in both invisible and colour enhancer versions. If you PM with your address I’ll get samples across to you to try on some spare paving.
