Less than half a block at edge - Edging

Hi

A contractor has installed a Brett block paviour patio and path for me.

The construction is an edging course of thetas with random stretcher alpha's in the middle.

I need some advice regarding the edging.

1) In some places the blocks stand proud of the edgings by 5 to 10 mm. Is this acceptable?

2) To finish the blocks to the edging the contractor has cut the alpha blocks to fill in. Many of these cut blocks are much less than half the width of the smallest alpha, i.e. are just shards. This does not look great. Should he have finished to the edge by cutting large alphas down to avoid these shards?

Your comments would be much appreciated. Any pointers to BS or manufacturer's guide lines that cover these issues would be much appreciated.

The block paviours are for a patio and path which will only be used for pedestrian traffic.

I am getting the contractor back sort out these issues. Hopefully he will do a better job this time.
