i am looking for a dark coloured stone for a porch step. Recently had my porch done in grey double glazing with grey door.

Not sure whether to go for slate or not.

Any recommendations/ideas on what to use.

As Tony says, Slate or Basalt. There are also some dark Porcelains available.

For a porch area its always going to look best if its done in 1 piece (or as few pieces as possible). I would start by measuring the area and then looking for stones that are available in large format sizes

The previous post is from Steve @ London stone they have an excellent range of all types of natural stone and also porcelain, personally i would go for the porcelain option, slate scratches and basalt is porous, porcelain is bullet proof and available in lots of different colours and textures cheers peter
