Hi all
Very new to this site,i can get road scrappings cheap and were wondering if they are they good enough for a hardcore for my block pave driveway do they knit together as good as mot1 for example.
advice appreciated.

We went through a spell using road plannings as our subbase but found out to our detriment that after time they seem to soften causing depressions in our work cost us a lot of time and money to put 3 jobs right lesson well learnt. Stick to the real thing £10 ton more but cheaper in the long run

Road planings are NOT acceptable for use as a sub-base. Read this page

They degrade and, in hot conditions such as high summer, the paved surface becomes warm enough to cause the underlying planings to soften and shift/settle. In very conditions, they have a tendency to fluidise at a much lower water content %age than a genuine Type 1 or Type 2 material.

They are cheap shite and best left for farmers to use as a top dressing for their pot-holed access tracks.
