Hi

Finally finished my Indian sandstone patio and path and really happy how it turned out.

When I bought my stone the merchant had a crate that was a customer return, it was missing the 290 x 290's but he sold me it for £100 and at that price I couldn't say no.

Anyway I now have 25 slabs left which are a mix between 900 x 600 and 600 x 600, this is enough for me to do a path round the side of my house and to my doorstep.

The problem is though if I make the path 600 wide it is just smaller than the wheels on my wheelie bin, which is a bit of a pain and I would like to make it a little wider.

The stone I have is riven sandstone, had considered setts to put at either side each flag but my local merchant doesn't sell these. He suggested using Tegula block, wondered if anyone had done similar?

My concern would be that I am not a big fan of monoblock due to it loosing its colour. I have never used Tegula but I know that is one of the better makes. Only mono I have ever done was with paver systems it looked amazing at the time but the colour now is shocking, although I am not sure if that is due to the people I sold the house to maybe using some sort of cleaner on it but it really is that bad.

Any advice?

cheers

A path needs to ba a minimum of 900, i'd go 1200 for wheelchair access etc:

I hadn't actually considered that. The existing council slabs they will be replacing are a weird size, think it's 760 long by 610 wide. I had planned to go down the side of the house at 600mm plus the width of some setts or possibly monoblock edgers and then go the 900 wide coming from front steps and across front of house.

Not sure if wheelchair access would be worthwhile at my house as it's really quite elevated. Front garden raised with a retaining wall about 1200 high, with 6 or 7 steep steps to front path, then another 3 steps at front door.
