Completed 10 years on 26th June, must be up for jamroll soon :;):
I regularly go through the arcs'. Looking at a few of haggis posts and also flowjoe ( wonder how they getting on ). Tarmac lady made a brief come back under a different name.
Reading latest post of G B about dissolving styrene with petrol and thought ....should you be doing that with your form Giles :;): ( don't take it the wrong way Giles ) so I went back in the arcs' for a look, nasty. Some great memories, laughs, arguments/debates ha ha. I'll lift a glass tonight ten year anniversary and drink to the gaffer for a great site.

I had a web designer in to advise on how to make the whole site more manageable and pretty it up for the mobiles and tablets, and she wanted me to get rid of the archives, claiming they were long past their use-by date, and she wanted to trim the Brew Cabin, too!

When I look at the traffic numbers for those archives, I appreciate that, even if it is 10, 12 or 15 years ago (the site itself will be 20 years old next year!) good advice is good advice and some people are still finding value in it.

So it's staying - and herself's been shown the door!

Was her name Melanie? A real nutjob, prone to rambling and never making sense?

I heard earlier in the Spring that Alan, one of the very first Brew Cabin Irregulars, who stopped posting when I moved to this form of the BC in 2002, died at home. He'd been retired for 10 years or so, but I got the odd catch-up email, an annual xmas card, and his lad was still doing a bit, but more on the gradening side than paving and walling.

We've not half had some characters over the years!

Head group? Wossat?

There was another guy, possibly a 'Ken', who lived somewhere in Cambridgeshire, but was retired and spent much of the year travelling the world taking photies of paving to send to me on his return....actual photies, not digital files! His travels came to an end about 7 or 8 years ago.

He also sent me a lovely yellow gemstone, carved with an asian dragon. He said it wasn't precious, just a tourmaline or summat, and had only cost a few dollars, but it was supposed to be a good luck trinket for travellers. I still have it in the car with me.

Apologies, my phone does that bloody please itself text and I have to keep rewriting. Takes ages to do a straight forward text :p Meant Jazz group, although I wouldn't for one minute doubt that there are the aforementioned groups out there somewhere
Think it was Ken, came across as a nice guy
