Hi guys can this piece of equipment be used for settling the slabs down as well as extracting them to save the old back??
I can't see any reason why not myself but was just wondering if there was a glaring reason I've overlooked..
Probst pz slab extractor - Use for laying also??

It's actually much better at laying than at extracting!
It's fine, in theory, to imagine a flagstone can simply be 'plucked' from its bed with this yoke (or one of the many similar ideas) but in practice, if there is any jointing present, and/or the bed is fresh wet mortar, or it's mortar that has cured and bonded to the flag's underside, it's all but impossible to lift out a flagstone. In such cases, levering one edge is the only viable option.

we had to retro install an octagon this week
after carefully marking and cutting the lines with the cut off saw we lifted the flags we had laid earlier
lo and behold the whole of the bedding was fully bonded to the flag,and a fair shake of type 1 came up as well

Thanks all for the tips.
I really mainly need if for laying I guess so that's good but sometimes my bed isn't right and pulling those damn things up, especially toward the days end is a bugger. I was hoping it would be useful for this purpose too. I mean, even if I had to pull up an edge to unstick it and then attach the slab puller thingy to move an handle the slab once it'd been freed??
Still worth buying though even if only to lay.
