Hi new on here, just wanted to see if there is a correct way to lay slabs. Ie what Base to stick them. Currently have had some slabs put down with just the edging cemented on them rather than full base of cement. Also is the mixture right of sharp sand and cement laid on scalpings? I will upload pics too. After reading lots on here I really have concerns about my patio. Also can you apply easy point dry?.

slabs/flagstones should be laid on a full bed mix of sharp sand(plastering sand)/cement/water(sir additive) generally varies per personal choice but from a 4:1 patio sand to cement to a 10:1 ratio but most favour the 6:1 ish ratio, with a trowel able consistency

Ok. The base is scalpings and has been compressed with a whacker plate. The mix is strong and stiff.
I am using grey indian sandstone

the random pattern is not right, should never have 4 corners touching, but overall it looks about right

I can see a void under slab by manhole.
Are they all laid with ''just the edges cemented?'' ( it's mortar, or concrete, not cemented. ) Why didn't you stop him before it became a problem ???

Mine looked like yours did, but they actually made a solid border with dabs in the middle - I'd check to see if they did that as well as mine starting staining strangely which gave the game away.

No I checked pie man, you can lift them up easily and some just sit in top. Joke. I am ripping them up and cleaning them up and then trying to get someone round to bed them fully and knows what there doing. Need a few steps putting in as well. Hopefully won't cost more than £1500. I got a ton of scalps to put down to top up any that are removed with the crap. Anyone in hampshire want the job .
