Multi purpose saw horse

New laborer is a bit on the weak side, and well, I'm not aversed to making life easier so I had an idea.

Got about 45 tons of disposal to do with barrows into a skip. Was gonna hire a skip loader and ramps but that would be breaking my no hire on pain of death rule so....

Gonna buy x2 10 ft ramps cos I just need them and I've wanted them forever and GB found me some for 600 quid and it gave me an idea.

I think the labouer will die going up a 10 ft ramp all day for days. He wont get a break cos he can't drive the digger so he'll be barrowing non stop. So I want to make a low and solid saw horse and drill the bed of the tipper and horse and ramps so I can in future double the ramps on the horse to create a nice shallow slope. Any thoughts on this? I can easily make the horse of course but wondering what the pitfalls might be on my idea.

Also, I'd love to be able to rig it somehow so I could mount a farming jack to it so it could double as a post puller when I needed to it.

the 3 metre ramps you have bought are the same as I have and are more than suitable for loading a skip using a wheel barrow without the need of a support half way, after you have tipped approx 15 barrows of muck in the skip you will be able to run straight off the end of the ramp and into the skip anyway

If you have the space hire a 1t skip loader will tip straight into the skip or onto the back of a transit tipper even the tracked hi tip dumper will manage over the sides of a transit tipper/skip
Working off ramps sucks dependant and material and weather gets slippy and dangerous quickly.
The tracked du.pers aren't the quickest thing in the world but will still hold a good 2-3 barrows of dirt

10ft ramp is fine if you ask me not that I do much of this sort of work :p 45 tons seams a bit much for a barrow though :0

Couple of years back, did a job where we needed a ramp to go up about 5ft and had to turn 90' halfway up.
We made a platform out of pallets of the same size so first ramp gets you on the platform where you can turn to go up next ramp.
Something similar could work for you whether it's straight or at an angle, your lad can take a breather half way up then

Get another lad and barrow to give a hand, much faster and economical especially if you're hiring the digger.

45T how many trips to the tip is that and how far away is the tip and what are they charging to tip.
Surely a grab lorry or roll on/off skip would work out cheaper.

If it's inert grab is the way forward plus alot cheaper than skips roll on roll off is good but needs to be on private land

Yeah guys I'm not transporting it to the tip myself lol. It would cost an absolute fortune and would be a minimum of 30 journeys. All over weight too lol.

It's skips or grab trucks. It's probably 35 tons unless it pours with rain shortly before or during the job.

Tight for a grab truck though dunno...

Wouldn't have thought the turf would matter it's crap like wood, plastic etc that's the problem.

I hope you're right. Not sure about the grab trucks, I'll ask, but the tips round here,, my god, if there's a twig in it they make a song and dance about it.

Grabs can be funny with stuff depends how bad it is and if it's going to their yard or straight to landfill
