Hi,
I've worked up a design for my back garden and I am trying to figure out the best way to prep for laying bricks and slabs. The slabs are reclaimed 600mm x 600mm and the bricks are 200mm x 150mm.
I'm thinking I'd start with the step, outlined in yellow, and then lay the brick edges outlined in red. The thinking here is I can use these edges as a guide to screed the bedding for the slabs, then lay the slabs. Fall is in direction of arrows away from house.
Does this sound reasonable? Any thing I should watch out for? Thanks in advance for any help.

well if you go to the patio page on this site it gives you all the info about digging out and subbases
your design looks pretty,in site terms its better to spend a good bit of time getting levels right, rather than just crashing into it
always work your way out
I.E. start at the farthest point from your access
cheers LLL

Thanks LLL. Digging out and subbase is mostly done, this has been an ongoing DIY job Thinking ahead now I'm trying to decide if I should begin laying by setting the brick edges at the house and then the lawn side. Then screed between and infill with slabs and bricks working left to right (access is to the right). I'm using this as a guide to lay the edging http://www.pavingexpert.com/blocks04.htm
I'll read through the patio pages some more. Thanks again.
