Had quick look at the site, can't think of any reason why it didn't hold the colour other then, did you clean the paving first? paving needs to be perfectly clean and dry before sealing.
If it's not then the sealer is going to work properly as you are sealing in any dirt or grime. If the paving was clean etc, then a second coat is not unusual, the Resiblock Sandstone colour enhancing sealer should do what you are trying to achieve or another product is Miracle 511 seal & enhance. The other thing as well at the moment, it's far to cold to seal successfully, wait until April-May better temperatures etc.

I didnt clean it other than a quick brush and rinse with the hose. Will get the pressure washer out tomorrow on an off cut or 2 for testing again. As part of the house is usually in the shade and needing the green algae cleaned off every so often is there any of the fungicidal treatments to avoid that may stain the slabs, or anything you recommend?

Don't know what has happened but the site has unregistered me as wayno so had to register under another name, did have problems with my original registration which Tony had to sort out for me. So sorry R&A I didn't deliberately do it so my question about algae cleaning still stands.
Thanks wayne (wayno)

On the main site, stain removals page, scroll down the page to the berry stains, use this mix/solution to clean the paving, follow the instructions to the letter and you will be fine.

Yes it will, but a few things to be careful of.zedman wrote:Painted render.
1 start from the bottom of the wall/house and work up wards to avoid streak's when applying the mix.
2 you will need to scrub the surface as the solution is just going to want to run downwards so won't sit on the surface, I use a stiff nylon brush when doing these surfaces.
3 be careful if any of the render is cracked or blown as it will peel off even more if you are going to pressure wash it.
4 depending how bad the algae is, I have done these with just a hosepipe, nylon brush & the solution/mix
5 be careful of any plants-grass etc that might be near the wall/house as this mix can damage or kill tender plants.
6 wear the correct PPE for this.
