50 or 60 mm brett installer says 60 marshals 50

Hi have been getting some quotes for paving the front of the house. Using the 3 different size drive sets blocks available. Currently we have a Ford Focus and a vw t5 camper van that will sit on the front. Will the 50mm marshalls be up to the job or should we be insisting on 60mm Reason we query this is the most expensive quote was from a Brett's premium installer who only use 60 mm for any driveway with a car with power steering. Also in the marshalls brochure they have no mention of 60mm. Also is Brett's and marshalls the same quality?

bretts are more available in the south east

I would say that the subbase is far more important than the block depth

150 mm compacted in 2 layers of 75mm

I prefer 60mm myself but have never had issues with 50mm from marshalls

if you are worried about weight go for 80's

sub base is an important factor with block paving but if there is an issue about weight I use a sand and cement screed instead of the sand laying course

Ok, I have Marshalls Drivesett Tegula 50mm on my drive. My Dropside is parked on it every night and quite often loaded up to and maybe occasionally beyond it's legal limit of 3.5T with no issues.
As Mick and LLL say the base is more important but having said that presented with the choice between 50 or 60mm I would go with the 60.

Whatever size used the paving bricks will not crack even with a 10T vehicle parked on it.

That's a lot of strain you'll be putting your vehicle under. If possible you should get a trolley jack and raise the back end, doesnt have to be loads, just enough to take pressure off vehicle and put it onto trolley jack instead.
Not always possible depending where you park at night though, but will be for the good of your vehicle.
