I've built a retaining wall and now I want to pave over the wall. The wall is curved so you will see cut edge all along this edge.
Would using a scutch chisel do the job.
Thanks dylan

Cheers tony
If I have cuts on internal side I will have put something on top of bricks like a cap. Had a go with scutch chisel and its very hard stone, it is possible but would take a bit of doing.
What about having the edge smooth, using angle grinder.
Thanks dylan

I have tried it very hard to look rights
if you put the flag to be fettled on a bed of sand and maybe use a hardy flat head scredriver or old wood chisel and just try and nick 2-3mm of the cut edge it will look more effective

gotta be small nicks though

I have a scutch chisel, not that I have used it much.
I may even cut a drip under the over hanging flag to help stop the wall going green.

Can you lay your stone as a coping first and have your cuts behind, or brick soldier course.

It's a curved wall so would have to cut to shape.

The wall is curved for about 2 metre and then straight for 2 .this is the only pic I got before I built my Image.

I meant lay radius cuts to outside edge so that you keep the hand cut edge finish then the curved cuts to sit behind.

Sort of know what you mean, but the flags I'm using are not radius shaped. So would have to cut the radius into them.
Thanks for your help. Dylan

I think what Dempsey means is to use whole slabs I.E 300x300 as a coping on top of wall cutting them into wedges as necessary to form a radius border. Cut your curves to meet the whole slabs. Much neater.

Maybe an easier way is to top the wall with a header/brick on edge course.

I would choose the width you want, if necessary cut to size. Lay your flags on top loosely overlapping where you need to get decent lengths, mark them and number them where they will go and cut mitres etc:
Tried and tested.

I know its too late but did you cut a drip into the overhang?
I have seen this detail on a lot of walls where the water ends up running down the brickwork due to no drip
you could run a 4 inch grinder round upside down to make a drip once its gone off
looks nice BTW think thats what we all meant
cheers LLL :)
