Help - Measuring up

Patio flagstones (slabs), concrete flags, stone flags including yorkstone and imported flagstones.

Hi, just been looking at a paving slab job and struggling to get a total area measurement as its runs on a few angles and not just a square. How do you work it out?

make squares and measure then measure triangles for the other areas
its hard to explain but relatively easy to do
