We used to stand outside the Mermaid pub stratford rd for the subbies to hand pick guys. Big lads like me were picked but also the wino's who would have their bottles filled for them at the end of the shift in the off licence. They would get them a brekkie, no money for them just drink and food, i'd get the going rate. Could be in the van full to bursting, stinking with the wino"s, dossers , druggies and full of smoke for hours. You could smell the shite off the scrumpy drinkers. No wonder i turned to crime :laugh:
