It shouldn't go back to the complete Grey, but you do need to re-do the colour enhancing process yearly to keep it Black, the paving will be sealed but depending on weather IE sun/UV damage etc it can start to lighten up after around 10 months Black Limestone seems to be the worst for holding it's colour in my experience.

Another Black Limestone patio, this one not in good shape, the before photo show how after 2-3 attempts to re-point the paving is how the paving company left the surface for our customer. The 2nd photo is the paving rid of all the cement that was left on the surface & ready for sealing. And the last photo is the surface colour enhanced & sealed. Not much I could do with the pointing as there is 2-3 different types used and really does look like it was bodged up just to get it finished. I did feel sorry for the home-owners, they are happy just to get the paving minus the pointing they had hoped for after I'd finished.

The removal of the cement stained paving ending up taking 2 days to get it to the steel grey finish I wanted, (I had to acid etch this one) so to get a blank unmarked canvas so I could start sealing.

That looked a nightmare job to tackle.
Can't have been easy to get rid of the pointing stains.
Very good results.

It was 2 days to clean/remove around 40 sq mts worth. It would normally take a day or under, but this one was a bit of a mess.

No I don't re-point my pointing skills ain't that good, I have people I can recommend to customers if they need, or some say they have their own people going to do the re-pointing.
