Thanks Tony, I feel re-assured.

Last questions:
I will be mixing for myself in my wheel barrow and laying a couple at a time then another small mix and so on and so on.

Assuming I put 8 spades/shovels of sand, 1 shovel cement at a time, how much plasticiser do I add?

I plan to leave 10mm joints (I will probably buy some X and T spacers. Should I dry grout the joints with a 4:1 mix?

In a barrow, do 4 sand than ½ a cement, roughly mix, then another 4 plus ½ and mix thoroughly.

Plasticiser depends on just which product you are using. There should be dosage instruction based on cement content included with the packaging, so many millilitres/grams per kg cement.

I've never been a fan of dry grouting unless it is topped off with wet material more or less inmmediately. What are you planning to use as the final jointing medium?

For the jointing, maybe dry grouting was the wrong words to use.
I was thinking brush in resin based mortars. The stuff that you mix in the tub with hardener and water.

I've seen a few of your videos on youtube using GftK 800 and 850+ etc.
That looks like the way forward for me!
Do you have to strike it at all at any point?

Also seen one for Marshall's weatherpoint (this seems even easier but different to the GftK process? No mixing but you have to strike it)

What would you suggest for a novice like me?
Which one is best (I assume the more expensive ones )
Are they both suitable for natural slate?
