Hi all,

Hoping one of you may be able to help me. I recently had a new path laid of grey Indian sandstone. The pointing used was a lovely creamy sand colour that offset the new fence I also had installed. The fence has done a great job of keeping my nosey neighbour at bay, but his cigeratte ash ( he has an overflowing ash tray right by the fence) has blown over\under and stained the pointing of the bottom third of the path a horrible dirty grey. Is there anyway I can clean this so it will be closer to it's original colour?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated, it's only been down two months and I saved long and hard for it, so I'm pretty upset about it.

Thanks in advance.

Not sure if it's any help but I believe the pointing used was Geo-fix all weather in buff.

Have you tried just cleaning the paving, as I've never known cigarette ash to stain a paving or pointing? Maybe a photo of what you have would help.

You could always buy him an efag

Seriously though never seen fag ash stain paving or pointing. A brush and a bit of water will suffice in cleaning it unless maybe there are some chemicals in his "cigarettes" :;):
