I look at it this way; the problem was posted in September when it was still warm, hot even, people were in the garden, cutting the lawn, enjoying breakfast in the early morning when it was warm but not yet hot, having a barbecue at 6 or 7 in the evening when they got home from work - the gas ones are really quick, aren't they - and inviting friends round at the weekend when it was light and bright. And of course white cement accidentally deposited on blocks at that time of year, dry, sunny, lots of people around, will have been visible and, dare I say it, perhaps a little embarrassing.

But it's now December, 3 months on, it's cold, wet, even frosty and, yes, some snow on the ground. So we're not out in the garden enjoying the weather, we're tucked up, keeping warm, cosy, with more attention being paid to what's going on inside than out. Our attention is on people and inner surfaces, decoration, warm radiators and log fires, hot showers and mugs of steaming coffee.

So if we haven't sorted out Samantha's white deposits, does it now matter? Maybe we can leave this one for a while, until the threatened long cold winter has passed us by and our thoughts turn once more to daffodils, crocuses, squirrels, Summer holidays and sun cream.

y'know, Simeon....if you'd hire an salesperson well-versed in selling pavement in the international marketplace, you might have time to go sort out Samantha's drive.

Not that I know anyone who's qualified, mind.

We could open a book on whether or not Samantha's white deposits have disappeared by next spring.

Pity the weather from last week didn't last -- then everyone's drive would have been covered in white deposits, and Samantha's would have blended in nicely.....:p

We didn't get any of that white stuff, Amy, we rarely do in this part of Britain. Cheshire pays far too much council tax to have to endure inconveniences such as snow! :;):

Actually, it's because we're sandwiched in between the "Mountings" (as my niece calls them) of North Wales to the west and the Pennine Hills to the east, so the snow-bearing clouds sweep right over the flat plain of Cheshire and South Lancashire, reserving their mighty deposits for more challenging terrain further east.

To wander back "on topic" for just a mo', I've been speaking to a paving cleaner manufacturer today, and there may be summat on the site next year about how to remove any errant white deposits, or deposits of any other colour. Watch this spot, as Samantha might have said! :D

Just to further the great North / South divide it seems that whilst the North suffers from white spots on paving we in the South are in for some black spots this week.

However I guess this is down to the huge gas explosion at Hemel Hempstead this morning and not a wayward splodge of cement.
