What's this? - How is it used?

I have several large rolls of this. Not 100% sure what it is or how it should be used. Have found similar rolls on the Internet, but I'm looking to confirm whether I could/should use it as a layer between my sub-base (clay) and type 1 when I construct my new domestic gravel driveway. If that's a good use for it, is it plastic grid face up or down?

Looks like you're right. A quick google of composite geogrid textile suggests that it could be used under my drive, or even under the darm tracks that intend to lay. There's a fair few rolls of it here, so even if it's a bit overkill, at least it won't do any harm or go to waste. Many thanks.

The right way is..well the way it is rolled up speaks for itself, just roll it out. You wouldn't wanna be turning that over in a hurry especially if it was wet :;): Run a petrol saw through it to cut it, easy peasy.

using a cut off saw to cut that could result in all sorts of nasties
(i know because I have done it)
as you cut through the last bit the stuff springs up and that black plastic is like razor wire when just cut
I would suggest Full PPE and a junior hacksaw :laugh: :laugh: :laugh:

Oh LLL master of all, do you really think i would let that happen? That's why god invented feet.. to stand on it, it is anchored down m8. Would love to watch you cutting through roll after roll on a motorway job with a junior hacksaw with lorry loads of crush waiting too be tipped. We take every precaution as per method statement/ risk assesment ppe being just one offf them :laugh: :laugh: :laugh:

I have cut it with the wizzer and its hard to stand on both sides of a 4m roll simultaneously
it is a bugger to cut for sure!

At the end of the day it sometimes has to be cut, so obviously we would all exercise caution. And as LLL rightly pointed out full ppe must be worn. Goggles, gloves, ear plugs, dust mask, wellies, hard hat, overalls, water supresent, cutting area, risk asessment, method statement and that's just for a junior hacksaw :;):
