Gradient of access - Gradient of access for minor road

I'm a self builder creating a new driveway onto my site. It is a minor road within a town - a one-way-street which slopes downhill. My driveway will need to rise by 2m over a distance of 16m at the centre line. I am told that there is a maximum gradient allowable from the road for the first 5m but I cannot find any information to confirm what this is. Also, if this gradient standard does exist is it applied to the centreline of my drive or does it have to conform all the way down the incline where my drive meets the road?

ian you need to have a transitional ramp from road to edge of footpath taking pedestrians in to consideration so about 1:80 for the first 2 metres then you need to work out the rest of the fall to stop your car bottoming out. i had a car ramp calculator somewhere but mislaid it, someone on here may remember, i think LLL requested it once so he will post it up when he has time. good luck.
