Hello,

I am looking for some advice on how I can preserve and maintain a atone flag floor that I have found in my kitchen.
I am not sure how old the floor is but it has been under a layer of asphalt floor for at least 30 years.
The asphalt was poor when I found it and has been letting water in, which is why I lifted it up.

There are no cracks in the flags however when I have tried to clean it with a wire brush it has started to crumble in places. Is there anything I can do to stop this and preserve the flags as I would like to keep them in my kitchen? I will be lifting them to put a damp course underneath and underfloor heating.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards,
Alex.
