Hi, first time posting. I'm in the middle of Constructing a garden path using block paving. It's the first time i've used block paving this extensively without a more experienced landscaper (My background is more in horticulture and design). My query is not so much in the block paving but a problem that has arisen in the sub base.
The path was excavated to the required depth but then we were rained off for a couple of days. The soil is heavy clay and as you'd imagine was fairly waterlogged. alot of the water cleared up apart from two main areas. this is where i've made an error due to a lack of experience. the MOT1 was put down and wackered and was as expected apart from the two problem areas. Im now left with a compacted sub-base which is fine in some areas but these two spots its not stable at all and moves easily underfoot.
Needless to say i don't wan to put anything else on top of this until i'm sure whats the best solution is. Will the water clear up eventually?? it may seem an obvious question as the water has go to go somewhere sometime but its quite disconcerting and due to a lack of experience could do with some reassurance or some possible solutions. the main issue is its february and i can't see i drying up anytime soon.
Any help would be much appreciated,
Cheers, Steve.
