Measuring plot size

Hi all,
I need to measure a plot fairly accurately which is about 2 acres in size. There seem to be a lot of knowledgeable guys on the forum regarding tools and equipment and I wondered if someone could give me advice on what equipment I need.
I picture a device that I could press a button at metre intervals around the perimeter and it would calculate the area using gps. Does this exist?!
The site is quite a strange shape so it is difficult to measure manually. I am keen to get a fairly accurate measure before getting a surveyor in etc.
I would also need to hire the equipment rather than buy so if such equipment exists please could you recommend where I could hire it from?
Many thanks,
Bob

I have used Map but it is quite inaccurate and very difficult to use in areas with lots of trees or other structures obscuring the boundary.
I was just wondering if there was a more accurate way of doing it using hire equipment, but it appears not!
Many thanks,
Bob

you need a total station with gps they're about £30k to £50k to buy someone might hire you one but they are complicated bits of kit
be easier just to hire in a survey firm to do it for you, alternative
get a wheel measure and do some maths
theres an app for iPhone https://itunes.apple.com/us....50?mt=8

Thanks GB_Groundworks,
They also do an android app of Planimeter which I might give a try as it has good reviews.
At least it will give me an idea before getting a surveyor in.

I used the Google Planimeter but didn't find it that accurate.

At least with the app you mark the boundaries not just on a sat image from a few miles up
