Hi,

I'd like to block pave our porch. It's open fronted and approx 2.5m x 1m. I've lifted the old, battered clay tiles already. It has a concrete base approx 100mm thick.

I know it's the norm to lay blocks on type 1 with a sand screed but would it be acceptable to use a mortar bed instead? Obviously it wouldn't need to stand up to any significant weight and only very occasionally gets wet.

Or would I be better off using slabs?

TIA, J
