hi, i have a large amount of waste tarmac that i have ripped up. i dont know exactly how much but estimate about 250 tons. ideally i would like to process it cheap as possible into something useable. i have a digger on site. i am getting a crusher in for some concrete but im not sure this will crush the tarmac as it is more flexible than concrete. what can i do with the tarmac?
crush it?
sell it as is?
extract some soil from a pit and bury it? is it allowable to bury it?
any other ideas?
thanks

large crusher will have no problem with it unless its 40 degrees, we ere on a job and the demolition lads stripped a 1000m2 car park went straight into there terrex 50 ton crusher and came out as useable 6f2

What size and age crusher? older smaller crushers will struggle with tar-mac hot roll is better because its more brittle but even then its normally stuck to road base and base course which are both relatively soft, are you hiring the crusher? if yes I would talk to the hire company.

You need a toggle crusher like the one dave suggests, an impact crusher will not cope with it unless you mix in some hardcore

hi, just thought i would give an update on here. we got the crusher in and it coped very easily with the tarmac. it was suggested to reverse the jaw action but we didnt have to that.
the concrete was another matter tho! bloody steel mesh was a nightmare. if anyone has to do in future i would suggest getting some kind of hydraulic/electric/pneumatic cutters or else a oxy-propane torch. some crushers cope better than others tho.
