Laying patio over several days

Hi, thanks to the great information on this site I'm almost ready to be laying my first patio. I will be laying 450x450 slabs on a full mortar bed and pointing between. It's quite a small area, about 10m^2, but as it's my first time I'll be fairly slow to make sure I get all the slabs laid perfectly, so it's going to take me more than a day to lay the slabs.

I thought it would be easier to get all the slabs set in place and then point the lot on another day but then I read here (http://www.pavingexpert.com/pointing.htm) that it's good to avoid a 'day joint' so does this mean it would be better to lay it bit by bit, pointing as I go?

you would have to be going seriously slow to not lay 10m2 of 450s in a day

on bigger jobs we all have day joints,just make sure the bedding is scraped back vertically from the leading face of the flags that are laid last

Thanks, I guess you're right that I'll get it done in a day. But what technique would you tend to use in terms of time spent laying and pointing, would you do an area of laying and then point the lot or would you point each joint as you lay each slab?

myself and most on here would lay the lot then point the next day
