The beauty of the post puller is that it removes al the concrete ball round the post in one go, leaving a clean hole in which to start again. With a breaker, you will have to still manually dig out the lumps and have a power source to run it, plus its a lot more work. Horses for courses, but the post puller is also handy for removing shrubs and small stumps

Yeah I do a lot of clearance jobs. It would be handy for pulling out shrubs and small trees too. Only downside is it's another thing to store.
Also, as said, it really depends. All these posts coming out are wood and rotted so no purchase to pull on and they have to be fully replaced in the same spots to not damage conifer roots so a right ball ache. It's mostly getting all the broken concrete out that take time.
Of course digging holes can take no time, from 5 mins to 2 hrs or more if positioned right next to a massive oak tree stump or similar.

the post puller comes with a claw attachment that still removes the ball of concrete in one when the post has snapped!

Yeah after more investigation it's like £2100 with all the gubbins including that claw attachment. I'm going to hire one first before I buy for sure.dig dug dan wrote:Also, as said, it really depends. 2100 is just so much damn money. I could get a cheap chipper for that almost, which I could equally do with, or more so.

Yeah they're outrageous prices. It isn't a complicated machine. It doesn't demand that price..... god dammit!!!
Dan, I'm totally confused. You were offered that price without the vat included right!?
But you own the pullers, less able, little brother already yes? And it is so good you want to buy big brother right?
I'm gonna hire one, fences are slowly becoming a big part of my work load so I would so use it but I need to hire it first to be sure. A guy I know says he sold his cos he found he needed to use the breaker anyway so defeated the object. I can't figure out what he means buy that. If you can pull the lump out in one go it save shit loads of work and mess. Maybe he had to break them to pick them up. No idea!

I was told £1850 plus vat. Same deal as you.
I have the original invented machine, still works, but the new one is beefed up, with telescopic handle, post clamp and better pump.
one you have removed the post with the ball of concrete, a sledgehammer will break if up. Sometime you need to break them out if someone has paved over the ball of concrete or you end up pulling put half the patio.
you can get ome to run off a power pack, and he is doing a honda engined powered machine.
tool for life if you look after it

I look after all my tools.
Cheers, yeah I obviously see the potential for the thing. You must really see it, if you have the slightly inferior model and want to upgrade.
I can't justify the cost of it ATM. It's just too much so will be hiring. If you do buy the new one, drop me a pm with your asking price for the old and we'll see if I can afford it/ make the trip.
