I have marked out the area for my patio and removed turf etc. By the time I have measured everything out, I have a huge depth to fill, some parts are very very deep. I don't really want to fill the whole area with type 1. can i lay old slabs etc in first then type 1 on top?
Some parts are a good 10" deep.

Sorry, just to add- I read the set ion on here about Black Limestone and it fading etc.
I was going to seal with Stain Stop Plus as I have use Lithofin products before on natural stone many times but only when used inside buildings.
Is the ebay Stone any good? I was looking at calibrated 22mm Black limestone. at the moment though, I am just looking.

if it were me I would get the black limestone,the geofix and the old slabs and fire them all in a skip

as long as you are aware with possible fading issues with black limestone it is fine
geo**** we dont use anymore ,we did around 12 years ago and have had to rake out and repoint every job we used it on
if you want to use old slabs try and make sure they are well broken I.E. 50mm or smaller (sledgehammer works well here) lay in 75mm layers with type 1 and wack
ebay stone? all depends
most on here try to use proper companies where you can get returns or regress in the event of poor or faulty stone

yes you probably can save 50 quid getting stuff on ebay but it will be thinner LS is 25mm thick whereas most ebay is 22mm
and you will not have professional back up

I have used lithofin MN stain stop on exterior stone successfully but it needs redoing after 3 yearsish
dry treat if applied by an accredited person is good for 15
and obviously costs big bucks
generally the best stuff costs more
lastly
marshalls weatherpoint 365 is the best of the polymerics IMHO
I have had some down for 18months and it is still rock hard
next step up is 2 part resin mortars or easypoint which is sand cement
