Hi i recently had the above patio laid on a dolomite / sharp sand screed. The problem I have is that some of the small slabs (300x300) have discoloured and gone a dark brown colour. There is no pattern to the discolouration, the whole of the flag has changed colour and the flags are on different areas of the patio. Is this perhaps to do with weathering as has been suggested to me. Has anyone out there had this happen to them or know of anyone whom it has happened to. Any answers or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Without seeing the flags, it's difficult to comment. Have you a photie? Have you contacted TopPave?

hi, topave have been contacted and after a lot of 'talk' and various specialists coming out and taking away and testing the slabs, they have come back and said it is due to the slabs been laid on a screed of dolomite / sharp sand and saying the slabs are retaining moisture. However, it is only the small 300 x 300 slabs that are discolouring and not the other two sizes. I have photo's but am unsure how to post on here. I can send these on if given an e-mail. The confusing thing for me is the fact that the discolouration is confined to the small slabs and that surely when it rains then the slabs will get wet and retain moisture from above as well as below. Any further help would be greatly appreciated.
