Laying reclaimed bricks

When laying reclaimed bricks for a pathway, top/bed upwards, what would be the best method of doing so?

Actually bedding them on a sharp sand/ cement mix? Or laying them as you would block paving, then wacking down etc?

firstly are they suitable chris?

house bricks are apt to fail in the ground

the way I have done it (but not recently)

dig out the ground

lay 100mm hardcore or type 1 and wack

screed approximately 8m by 1 m of 6:1 grit sand :cement dryish mix

lay the bricks on this screed with a perp on two sides but no bed

every metre or so run over with a piece of 4 by 2 and a mallet tapping down the odd high brick

joint up as necessary as the mortar dries out

the main point is that you are using jointing the bricks as you go rather than having to come back later

IIRC me and my mate did a 12m Path in 2 days dig out etc and lay

Yes, I will be getting some reclaimed clay pavers for the job.

The more i look at this quote the more confused i get. The absence of punctuation also adds to the confusion. Thought you had been taking lessons off Cookie, or been on the lout gear :;): No insult intended .

you have a screed laid still green sean
so in theory you could lay bricks or slabs or whatever onto it

if you butter the perpend and the side of each brick as you lay them on the screed its easier than doing it later
Lay approximately 1M2 and then joint up if they are ready
