I am going to lay a patio and would like to use indian sandstone. I have 2 dogs though that may occasionally pee (and even poo) on the patio! Please could anyone let me know whether this would stain the slabs - would it be better to use cast slabs such as bradstone etc?

Thanks very much
Sarah :)

The stone will stand up to urine and doggy-doo better than the concrete, but I would recommend that you

use a sealant to protect the stone

have effective, trapped drainage installed to facilitate washing down

ensure the jointing is sound and waterproofed so the urine cannot get through to the bedding layer.

Tony,

Thank you very much for your helpful advice. Natural slabs are much nicer so I am glad that they will be better.

Cheers Sarah
