Hi All

So, we laid our limestone paving. It was down for about 2 months on a sand/cement bed. It looked fantastic prior to us sealing it.

We then applied a CSW Coating limestone stone enhancer, which is this:

The pavers were dry as it hadnt rained for about 3 weeks prior to sealing, we applied the sealer and it looked great for about a week

Then, we had a heavy down pour. The rain sat on the surface of the pavers for a few days and now we have these horrible stains

Ive tried using Xylene and Metho to clean it off, Xylene removes about 30% of the stains but not completely.

Can anyone tell me what this is and how to clean it off??

It was about $350 aussie dollars, so thats what 200pounds? For 20 litres

I don't know this product but from the cost? maybe one of the cheaper brands.
Anyway, you will need to strip the coating/sealer off with a proper remover, the Xylene won't remove it all.
Do you have Aqua-Mix products over there?
This is also going to need to be done with a rotary machine.

From the photos it doesn't look like the sealer had dryer/cured properly before you had rain, but from how I read your post you had a week without rain after sealing? Did you wipe off any excess sealer after you applied the sealer?
Was the surface properly cleaned before sealing?
What was the temperatures when you sealed?
There was definitely no other sealer or coating on the surface prior to you sealing?

Yes, we can get Aqua Mix products locally. Is the removal something I can do? I dont want to have to get a machine if possible :/ I have a Karcher 2400psi pressure washer

The surface was clean and it was about 20degrees celcius.

We definitely wiped the excess off, without a doubt (went through a LOAD of rags)

What you need from Aqua-Mix is there Sealing & Coating remover, really you do need to do this with a floor buffer/rotary machine, soft to medium brush, as you can add honing powder to re-hone the surface as you go along. I'd also do a second clean after the sealant removal with there heavy-duty cleaner.
You could try with just the pressure washer, but can't guarantee the results as stuff like this needs mechanical pressure as opposed to just water pressure.

Here's one I did a couple of months back with the above products, again a failed sealer,



Then sealed with Aqua-Mix Enrich and Seal

Okay, try the pressure washer, but I feel you are going to need a floor buffer for the best results though.

Just wondering if you can please detail the instructions to remove the haze and also the 'steel greyness' that the pavers now have from the weather and not being sealed.

I can as mentioned obtain the Aquamix products

Yes that's the type of machine you need, but don't use pads to strip with say the Aqua-Mix sealing & costing remover you need a medium to soft brush. Also what aids the stripping process is honing powder around 220 grit, again Aqua-Mix do this product you'll need around 1 kilo.

So the machine just agitates the Aquamix stripper? Im reluctant to try a honing powder as the pavers are a honed/tumbled finish and id rather not remove that...

The machine with the proper brush fitted does agitate the stripper but also helps with the removal of the previous sealer. The honing powder won't harm your stone, it will act like a fine grit with the stripper aiding the removal of the old sealer.
