This weekend I cleaned my parent's patio with the pressure washer. I noticed that several slabs had splashes of paint left my the decorator when he painted the fences a few months ago. Some of the splashes and blotches were completely removed with the pressure washer, some faded significantly and some not at all.

I noticed my parents have several unopened bottles of the old formula of Nitromors (with dichloromethane) in the garage. I was wondering if Nitromors was safe to use? I don't have a spare slab to test it on. Is there any risk it can cause any damage?

The paint is Ronseal 5 year Fencelife 5 year Weather Defence Fencelife (Red Cedar) and the patio is Marshalls Fairstone Sawn Golden Multisand.

Many thanks for your help.

Okay thanks but I didn't want to have to buy or hire something like that.

Is Nitromors safe to use without causing any damage to the stone?

never used it on paving, so cannot comment. best to try a small area out of sight first

DCM is a carcinogen and has caused 13 deaths through asphyxiation in the last 2 years in the states

it has been banned for non professional use in the UK for 2 years so we cannot condone you breaking the law and putting yourself in danger

I do remember the old nitromors working really well but its dangerous with a capital D

maybe roger will have some special jollop to remove?

ive seen a guys hand who used/s the old stuff on nearly a daily basis... its not a pretty sight
pretty lethal stuff, but works well thats why he uses it!! doesnt seemed bothered by his health?!!

you could always try the new version on one spot and see how that works...
id be tempted with another pass of the jet wash first if it were me
block paving, natural stone paving, sett driveways courtyards etc, brickwork and stonework.

all aspects of natural stone paving from groundworks and drainage to completion

Ronseal do a stain remover, might be worth looking at the Ronseal site to see what it's called.

DCM stuff is totally banned now these days, esp for the DIY market.

Thanks for the advice guys. Think I'll pop down to the local Jewson where the installer bought it from to buy a small slab to test it with some Nitromors. I think a more powerful pressure washer than the one I have is needed to remove it without resorting to a chemical remover.
